Engagement Rings

Engagement rings are an important part of the jewellery industry as they can be the point of entry for most people into the finer end of jewellery. There is so much marketing and hype about what should be the ideal engagement ring. The myth is focused around the diamond solitaire with or without shoulder stones. There is a lot of pressure to have the biggest or the best.

The truth is that it is really a symbol of commitment.

The difference in the way I deal with clients when designing and handcrafting an engagement ring is to talk about what symbols and feelings we can
incorporate into the ring. Of course we talk about
budget, this is important, as the ring should not create
a financial strain.

Having designed and handcrafted engagement rings for clients over such a long time I can give the clients a huge variety of options without breaking any budgets and giving a unique perspective to such a symbolic ring.

As I said before most focus is on a diamond solitaire as an engagement ring, this is not set in stone. A lot of engagement rings can feature coloured stones, or a design incorporating smaller stones, so the design becomes the feature of the ring. An example is my wife's engagement ring, it features a heart shaped pink sapphire set in yellow gold with white diamonds set into the shoulders complimenting the Pink Sapphire. Other engagement rings I have handcrafted feature Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires, Tourmalines, Aquamarines and even Coloured Diamonds.
